The Council has a number of commitees

 

Finance Committee

The Council’s annual Budget is in excess of £40,000 with the money obtained by way of a precept and the Council Tax. The Parish Council’s Finance Committee meets each January to plan ahead for the coming financial year (April to March.)

 

Planning Committee

The Planning Committee usually meets once a fortnight. Their role is to examine all planning applications from the Parish, and make appropriate representation to the District Council. The Planning Committee need to verse themselves in the terms of reference, and objections should be concise, conforming to specific guidelines. The opportunity for the public to speak at District Planning Meetings is a significant step forward in empowering local interests to have a voice. This facility is not however envisaged as an opportunity for un-elected pressure groups to hi-jack planning meetings at District level. The Parish Council does not make planning decisions; that responsibility remains firmly in the hands of the District Council. In practice the Planning Committee regularly voice objections on behalf of the local community.

 

Recreation Ground & Sports Committee

The Recreation Ground Committee exists to administer, maintain and manage the Recreation Ground, which was purchased from a Farmer Brown in the 1930’s  (for the sum of £500!) “ To be a recreation ground for the village.”  It is the only fixed asset owned by the Council at the present time.

 

Current users include Bosham Football Club, at present playing in the 2nd. Division of the Rich City Sussex County Football League, the children of the Parish, there are Play Areas for children of all ages

  

Village Amenities Committee

This committee covers a broad remit including bus shelters, public seats, litter/dog bins, sign- posts, signs, roundabout tree/shrub planting schemes, litter warden , who is employed by the Parish Council, and you can see what a wonderful job she does. The Committee keeps a watchful eye on the state and frequency of maintenance of the many footpaths that criss-cross the parish.
